Projects: how do you use them?

How are you guys using “Projects” within Cloudways?

My main one is called “Dev” and everything just goes in there, so I feel like I’m not really benefiting from the functionality.

Any creative uses?

I think is just a way to categorize your applications/work. Nothing more.

I use it to categorize websites on the type of license / SLA they have with me.

Thanks @jeroen you’ve got me thinking about it a bit more laterally.

It would be nice if it were an optional field.

I’ve used it to distinguish between sites belonging to different customers.

You can sort on project and it shows in the list of applications.

Haven’t used it. We preface any dev domains title with DEV and remove it when they go live.

How do you create an Application without assigning it to a Project?

Don’t you always have a development application as well?

If it’s a new site then the DEV site is the only one and then becomes LIVE at some point. If it’s a cloned site for some reason (client wants to test,we want to test) then there are two sites LIVE and DEV.

I use them to sort apps by Dev and Production. The production sites are then categorised by the hosting plan they are on.

I’ve just been doing some tidying up and now use Projects to categorise apps in to DEV, LIVE and ARCHIVE. Not much help but it will be as the number of apps increase and allows a quick view how many in each category.
