Cloudflare & Cloudways. cloudways support pissing me off

#1

Need to seek support via this channel. The support ticket staff is giving me nuts answers.

My DO server is at NY. So web speed test is good.

But everywhere else, even San Francisco (SAME COUNTRY) is bad. 20sec load times on 3G

Now you may state 3G is a serious throttle, but a realistic one since most of my visitors are on mobile and not wifi. So to even out the comparison, someone at Cloudflare stated their Pingdom score which was really good which I tested on my side.

Cloudflare working for user.

My atrocious scores. No throttling invovled.

Look at those long wait times.

So I asked cloudflare what’s going on, after making some corrections and still bad TTFBs, their staff stated there may be some “explicit no-store; no-cache;must-revalidate being set on those pages.”

So I started a support ticket here, and the response I got seriously pissed me off.

(1) I asked is there any issues between Cloudways & Cloudflare. Did my due diligence and posted all the scores and links stated here.

Got this AWESOME reply.

Either your support guys don’t do their homework / read carefully, or your internal communications is lacking as some of your staff already stated there’s no need to setup Cloudflare URL in your breeze settings.

https://wordpress.org/support/topic/is-it-compatible-with-cloudflare/

Come on.

(2) Here’s the second reply I got, to my ORIGINAL question asking if there’s some NO-CACHE thing going on at Cloudways that’s interfering with Cloudflare.

First off, you can see from the Pingdom screenshots above I have image file sizes less than 10kbs taking as long as those more than 30kb. The yellow waiting times shared by @gulshankumar are so much shorter than mine for similar file sizes. Your support is denying an obvious fact.

Second. I’m asking if there anything related to explicit “no-store; no-cache;must-revalidate” that is interfering my cloudways woocommerce app with cloudflare. This bozo replied saying I can set them at .htaccess.

What is going on? Do your support staff read our questions??

HI @thienkw ,

I have been going through your comment in detail, As far as the cloudflare`s stance that the : explicit no-store; no-cache;must-revalidate " can be a reason of any issues doesn’t sound convenient as i have checked your site by making a localhost entry of your application domain and your server IP to bypass cloudflare which shows no such header :

While with cloudflare the header is shown :

Have you tried disabling cloudflare or bypassing it and testing for the page speed to check TTFB ? while the results for a different website that your shared with cloudflare seems ideal but they can differ from one website to other. Let me know your findings, I will be happy to help!

TTFB is not a static thing.

It can vary due to original tester’s internet services provider even at same location, your origin server location, response type, server load, etc.

as @gulshankumar stated TTFB can vary due to original tester’s internet services provider even at same location. Considering from the results you shared i think your doubts may have been cleared if the server is issue in this case as i see better TTFB performance in case of cloudflare being disabled and the header explicit no-store; no-cache;must-revalidate also getting disappeared. I think cloudflare would be in a better position to comment on this particular issue.
