500 error when Visual Composer Gets Activated

I ma tryyying to migrate a site over, yet every-time I activate the Visual Composer plugin, it goes into a 500 error. The site is built with visual composer, so no, there is no “Not using Visual Composer”

I’ve edited the HTACESS, wp-config, wp-config and no dice.

Suppory had me update the control panel, no dice.

Anyone else run into this problem?!

Probably the best thing to do would be to turn on WP_DEBUG to find out exactly what error you’re getting. You can do that by following these instructions:


Once you see the error message you can find out exactly what’s causing the issue. Otherwise, it’s a shot in the dark!

Disable all plugins.

Enable VC.

If the 500 error goes away, enable your plugins one at a time until the error comes back. This will determine if you’ve got some conflicting plugins which is common with WP.

If that doesn’t work do what Jim said or check your Cloudways logs for errors.
